The evening focused on the Energy Trilemma, a concept introduced by the World Energy Council that underscores the complex challenge governments and companies face in providing energy that is reliable, affordable, and aligned with climate goals. After a light dinner, stakeholders and experts in the field shared their perspectives, enriching the discussion with valuable insights.

The conversation revolved around the three core dimensions of the Energy Trilemma:

Energy Security
ensuring a constant and reliable energy supply while reducing dependence on external or vulnerable sources.

Equity and Economic Accessibility
providing access to energy at fair prices for all groups and businesses, preventing energy poverty and inequality.

Environmental Sustainability

producing and consuming energy in ways that minimize environmental impact, reduce emissions, and preserve resources for future generations. These pillars form the foundation of energy sustainability, yet they often come into conflict, requiring careful trade-offs. A country prioritizing abundant, low-cost energy, for example, may postpone investment in clean technologies, thereby risking long-term environmental objectives.

The night highlighted that finding the right balance between security, equity, and sustainability is not only a technical challenge but also a strategic and cultural one. It demands foresight, collaboration, and shared responsibility among institutions, businesses, and society at large.

This collective awareness was the true outcome of the evening: a deeper understanding that addressing the Energy Trilemma requires building bridges across sectors and committing to solutions that can endure over time
